Staffing
8 nurses, 14 care staff, 7 auxiliary staff

Organisation and management
The Home is run on a day to day basis by the registered manager. Each shift is run by a qualified nurse. The kitchen is operated by a qualified chef. The buildings and grounds are looked after by the Facilities manager. Accounting and book-keeping is handled by the registered provider, Lakeshore Healthcare

Service users and their needs
St David's provides long term and short term nursing and residential care to adults over the age of 65 We also provide respite and emergency admissions subject to bed availability

Social activities, hobbies and leisure intereststs
Service users are encouraged to participate in a wide range of organised activities. In addition wherever possible we support specific additional interests that a service user wishes to engage

Quality feedback and suggestions
St David's operates a quality assurance programme to assess satisfaction with the service we provide. We also actively encourage suggestions from all stakeholders

Fire regulations
The home operates rigourous fire prevention and safety procedures

Religious services
Services are organised within the home to meet the needs of service users

Friends and relatives
These are encouraged to visit regularly. No restrictions are placed upon them other than to sign entry and exit in the fire register visitors book. Their feedback is sought as a part of our quality assurance system

Complaints
A procedure is in place and followed to ensure that all complaints are recorded and dealt with on a timely basis

Care Plans
These are carefully prepared and followed. Residents, their family and carers are involved in the formulation of care plans. The Care Manager regularly monitors performance to ensure that high standards are maintained

Numbers of rooms
33 single rooms 1 double room (note a policy of the home is only to use the double for couples, else single users are accommodated. We do not believe that placing disparate people together in the same room is good for the individual)

Therapeutic techniques
We can arrange for example physiotherapy and reflexology.

Privacy and dignity
This is the service user's home and we will always respect his/her rights to privacy and ensure that his/her dignity is maintained

QUALITY POLICY STATEMENT
The management of the home place a strong emphasis on the highest quality service possible for all of its service users. We believes that no matter how good its present services, there is always room for improvement.
This Policy sets out the values, principles and policies that underpin the home's approach to quality. St David's is a comprehensively equipped Private Nursing Home which is registered under the terms of the Care Standards Act 2001, with the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI): The home is dedicated to the provision of the finest care for its service users. This will be achieved through the integration of efficient administrative practices with first class standards of care in accordance with the requirements for registration, and appropriate supplementary regulations, and the Care Homes for Older People, National Minimum Standards. Accordingly, the home has been established with a quality orientated approach to the business, and a high degree of quality awareness is developed through all levels of staff through appropriate training and leadership of management. To reinforce this, it is the policy of the management that St David's shall, as applicable to the business, comply with the requirements of the International Quality Standard ISO 9000 (latest revision).

STATEMENT OF AIMS AND OBJECTIVES (MISSION STATEMENT)
It is the objective of St David's to provide care to all service users to a standard of excellence which embraces fundamental principles of good care practice, and that this may be witnessed and evaluated through the practice, conduct and control of quality care in the home. It is a fundamental ethos that those service users who live in the home should be able to do so in accordance with the home's Statement of Values, ref. Policy No. 210. It is the objective of the home that service users shall live in a clean, comfortable and safe environment, and be treated with respect and sensitivity to their individual needs and abilities. Staff will be responsive to the individual needs of service users and will provide the appropriate degree of care to assure the highest possible quality of life within the home. To meet these client needs the care service within the home is designed to achieve the following objectives:

1. To deliver a service of the highest quality that will improve and sustain the service user's overall quality of life. In this respect the care service is designed to meet the certification requirements of the ISO 9000 Quality Standard (latest edition), but in a people-orientated fashion.

2. To ensure that the care service is delivered flexibly, attentively and in a non-discriminatory fashion while respecting each service user's right to independence, privacy, dignity, fulfilment, and the rights to make informed choices and to take risks.

3. To ensure that each service user's needs and values are respected in matters of religion, culture, race or ethnic origin, sexuality and sexual orientation, political affiliation, marital status, parenthood and disabilities or impairments.

4. To ensure that the care service in whole is delivered in accordance with the Statement of Terms and Conditions agreed at the point of moving into the home.

5. To manage and implement a formal programme of staff planning, selection, recruitment, training and personal development to enable service user care needs to be met.

6. To manage the care service efficiently and effectively to make best use of resources and to maximise value for money for the service user.

7. To ensure that all service users receive written information on the home's procedure for handling complaints, comments and compliments, and how to use it.

STATEMENT OF VALUES (PHILOSOPHY OF CARE)
St David's aims to provide its service users with a secure, relaxed, and homely environment in which their care, well-being and comfort is of prime importance. Carers will strive to preserve and maintain the dignity, individuality and privacy of all service users within a warm and caring atmosphere, and in so doing will be sensitive to the service users' ever-changing needs. Such needs may be medical / therapeutic (for physical and mental welfare), cultural, psychological, spiritual, emotional and social, and service users are encouraged to participate in the development of their individualised Service Users' Plan of Care in which the involvement of family and friends may be appropriate and is greatly valued. This will be achieved through programmes of activities designed to encourage mental alertness, self-esteem, social interaction with other service users and with recognition of the following core values of care which are fundamental to the Philosophy of our Home:

A continuous staff training programme is implemented to ensure that these high standards are maintained in line with the latest initiatives and developments in care practices as may be laid down in appropriate legislation, regulations and the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) guidelines.
