Respite/Short Stays

Respite care is for people who are normally looked after at home by a carer or relative or who need convalescence after a hospital admission.

Respite care enables a carer to take a planned break or holiday.  The carer has peace of mind knowing that their relative is well looked after in a properly equipped environment that has 24 hour nursing available.

Respite can also be viewed as giving the cared-for person a break from their routine and a
chance to enjoy different surroundings. It also applies to people who may not have a carer, but who need a break from their home circumstances.  We aim to provide a flexible service to suit the needs of each person.

If you are being cared for in your home because of illness, disability or frailty, your Social Services Department may be able to offer respite care services to support your carer to continue their caring role.  Some people requesting respite care are local and some are not.

You do not need to be based locally to book in respite care at St. David’s
Please call St. David’s on 01263 822 671 for information on the availability of respite care.
